Principal Accountabilities:
1. Assist in maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures as they relate to the disbursements cycle.
2. Oversee the disbursements cycle of all companies, especially their control systems and transaction-processing operations.
3. Work with the Senior Accounting Manager to maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
4. Maintain a system of internal controls over accounting transactions.
5. Communicate with co-workers, management, vendors and others in a courteous and professional manner.
6. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
7. Conform to all safety rules and use appropriate safety equipment.
8. Attend training sessions to successfully meet job requirements.
6. Ensure that accounts payable are entered and paid in a timely manner and take all reasonable discounts on supplier invoices.
7. Prepare all related company journal entries and agree balances among companies.
8. Maintain fixed assets system and related depreciation.
9. Prepare shareholder distributions/dividends.
10. Complete requests for vendor credit applications.
11. Conduct monthly reconciliations of all accounts payable to ensure their accuracy.
12. Administer and reconcile credit card purchasing program by ensuring that the department who has the right to order goods and pay for them upon receipt must put the correct amount of the order on the credit card charge.
13. Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
14. Oversee compliance with Form W-9 and vendor maintenance.
15. Review cost reports and make recommendations for cost savings.
16. Respond to Senior Accounting Manager, CFO and Presidents as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.
17. Review all work performed by paraprofessionals in relation to accounts payable and the disbursements cycle.
18. Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports
1. Assist with a system of management cost reports to be issued monthly.
2. Assist with monthly workpapers and financial statement preparation.
3. Assist in calculating benchmarks and metrics against which to measure the performance of company operations and cost savings opportunities.
4. Assist in the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
5. Issue Depreciation Schedules as needed.
1. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
2. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, including Form 1099 reporting and property tax returns.
Desired Qualifications: The senior accountant candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting, or equivalent business experience and 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation. Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:
Microsoft office and Sage preferred
Working Conditions: Primarily in an office environment. Position will be expected to travel as needed to all REO Logistics companies no less than twice a year. Periodic weekend or evening work is rarely expected.
