The Controller is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the institution's day to day financial affairs in all major accounting divisions including: payroll and benefits, accounts payable and receivable, revenue collections, student loan collections, and external and internal financial reporting. Maintain the College Accounting system (Banner), schedule and review recurring and ad hoc financial reports, review and approve purchase requisitions, maintain policies and procedures, direct production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, Final approval of all OASIS (State accounting system) documents. Responsible for coordination of the college financial system with the state system. Additional responsibilities include supervising and directing the work activities of Accountants as well as other financial supporting staff assigned to the unit. Job responsibilities require advance knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and practices, in addition to auditing principles, financial reporting, accounting regulations and internal controls. Work is performed independently, by applying established standards through a broad and deep knowledge base of work acquired from several years of experience in this professional field. Problems faced in this position are varied, often complex, and involve multiple constituencies, often with competing priorities. Decisions have significant, broad implications for the management and operations of a division/entire institution as well as contribute to decisions on the overall strategy and direction of the entire institution.


The candidate needs knowledge of accounting systems, internal controls and would preferably have experience in higher education, and non-profit. Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field is required and CPA or advanced business degree preferred, with a minimum of 4 years supervisory experience and a "team-first" attitude, plus personal and professional skills for a management level position.
