This course is an initiative being offered our Taxation Committee. This event is FREE to all WVSCPA Members and offers 2 hours of CPE. Non-Members may register to attend at a cost of $75.00.
A primer on the technology and use cases for blockchain, cryptocurrency, and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT's).
What are they? How do people use them? How are they taxed? Where do we stand from a regulatory perspective (GAAP and Tax)? and What does the future hold?
Speaker: Ryan Mink
Bio:
Ryan Mink is a senior manager in the tax and audit departments of Suttle & Stalnaker, PLLC. He has been in public accounting since 2007 and with the firm since 2008. Ryan specializes in employee benefit plan audits and has significant experience in performing financial audits in accordance with Government Auditing Standards. He also has experience in financial reporting and audit preparation consultation. His responsibilities in the tax department include preparation and review of individual and corporate tax returns as well as providing tax consultation and planning for individuals and businesses.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" />
Ryan received Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, and graduated magna cum laude from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Ryan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Central Chapter of the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
In 2017 Ryan received the Advanced Defined Contribution Plan Auditing certificate from the AICPA which signifies not only his commitment to audit quality but his competency in performing these specialized audits. In 2021 Ryan earned the Blockchain Fundamentals for Accounting and Finance Professionals Certificate. These professionals can identify practical applications, risks, challenges, financial control considerations, regulatory concerns and governance related to blockchain implementations
Ryan is a member of the Leadership Kanawha Valley Class of 2013 and Leadership Monongalia Class of 2019.
