Legislative Update: SB 218
An Occupational Licensing Consumer Choice Act (SB 218) has been introduced to the Senate, January 9, 2020.
Like the identical bill that was created in the Legislative Session of 2019 (SB 492), the purpose of this bill is to create the Occupational Licensing Consumer Choice Act to allow persons to work for employers or consumers without first obtaining a professional license.
This would allow a non-licensee to work in a lawful occupation without an occupational license by allowing consumers to make decisions in hiring and contracting with providers of their choice. The Bill exempts medical doctors, RNs, LPNs, Dentists and Pharmacists.
