Students

Students, whether they are at the high school or college level, benefit from the interaction with WVSCPA professionals.

Our members go to schools and deliver information about careers in accounting, and they participate in individually sponsored school fairs and events.

Each year the WVSCPA offers a Recruiting Fair for eligible college/university seniors, bringing together employers and students for the interview process.

Outstanding Accounting Student

The WVSCPA, under the leadership of the Recruiting and Opportunity Committee, recognizes Outstanding Senior Accounting Majors each academic year.

Student Events

Many of the WVSCPA Chapters sponsor student nights, inviting college accounting students to be their guests for dinner or lunch. Student members are also invited to participate in a number of other Society happenings. Receptions are sponsored annually in many of the state’s colleges and universities to bring together accounting majors and those interested in entering accounting programs. Each year the WVSCPA offers a Recruiting Fair for eligible college/universities seniors, bringing together employers and students for the interview process.

Recruiting Fair

Once a year in October, the Recruiting and Opportunity Committee conducts a Recruiting Fair for WV college/university seniors, who MUST be a student member of the WVSCPA in order to participate. Students meeting the required criteria can submit their resume, transcripts (an unofficial copy is acceptable) and an application via the website. In most cases, students are provided at least two interview times with participating firms and/or employers.

Career Advice

Students, aspiring CPAs, and new CPAs receive advice about the profession. This guidance may be about why to become a CPA or about how to build a successful career once the individual is already a CPA. WVSCPA members help in a variety of ways including: presentations in schools and an annual Work/Life conference designed for new professionals.

Outstanding Accounting Student Awards (OAS)

Each year the Recruiting and Career Opportunities Committee of the WV Society of CPAs recognizes students majoring in accounting from colleges and universities all across the state of West Virginia. Information regarding these awards is sent to current student members of the society as well as Faculty to advise that they are eligible to participate and apply for these awards. You MUST be a Student Member of the Society and be attending a college or university in the state of West Virginia.
